Artificial intelligence is the talk of the town these days. It’s taken over several industries but especially software and content development.
Today, let’s explore how you can leverage AI to create courses and other learning solutions for your students.
Text Content
AI can generate essays or reports on specific topics. For example, AI can produce video/audio scripts and tutorials for educational purposes.
Multimedia Content
AI can create video lectures, animations, or infographics for course materials. For example, it can generate explanatory animations for complex concepts or produce video tutorials. Different platforms need to be used depending on the need.
A word of caution though: one of the common quirks seen in AI-generated images is distorted limbs. For example, sometimes human figures seem to miss entire or part of their fingers.
Resource Recommendations
AI can suggest supplementary reading materials or external resources based on the learner’s current module or assignment. It might recommend relevant books, articles, or online courses.
Close monitoring is required because it does not have access to live internet and makes up sources. One idea we played with was to generate a TLDR version of each resource.
Quiz Generation
AI can automatically generate multiple-choice quizzes or questions for various subjects and grade them instantly. For example, it can create math quizzes with varying levels of difficulty.
However, in my experience, these items need to be reviewed closely because sometimes it marks incorrect options as correct options, or repeats same options multiple times, or gives incorrect feedback.
Grammar and Spelling Checks
AI can automatically check course materials for grammar and spelling errors, ensuring polished content.
In some tools, this feature can also be used to adjust the tone of the content. For example, you may want your content is coming across as being too stiff or formal. You can ask the AI tool to adjust the tone of voice to be more conversational and informal. You may also experiment with assigning generational details to the tool. For example, “write like a millennial.”
Language Translation
AI can translate course materials from one language to another, making the content accessible to a global audience. For instance, it can translate English course materials into Spanish or Chinese.
Because AI is still evolving, translation is one of those areas that need to be monitored closely. The programs often translate literally without the benefit of context.
Cultural Adaptation
AI can adapt content to different cultural contexts, ensuring that examples, references, and idiomatic expressions are appropriate for the target audience.
